There’s another snowstorm taking aim at us. Fortunately, it takes place when I’m not working. Thinking about finding a set of maxsa boards, maybe a tow strap, some emergency lights, and I’ll just go out and see if I can’t enjoy the snow and help folks along the way.
What are your plans, PNW Oppos?

I was literally *just* thinking about doing something similar, but the tires on my truck right now are nearly bald all-seasons.
So I’ll probably just go out as soon as there’s some accumulation and do some snownuts in parking lots. In the meantime, I’ll make sticky rice dumplings.

Toward the Seattle area. It's a rarity for us to get hit with two weeks of arctic cold.

Ive got enough scotch to last me. Really trying to avoid a situation where I'll have to switch to bourbon

Well, if you need some extras from Costco, you can ask. :p

Just ordered MAXSA boards and a recovery strap, should be here on Friday. My face hurts from driving around with the top down, I'm planning on staying inside all day/most of tomorrow. Come Friday though... Work meeting that I'm really looking forward to. We'll see how many people make it

You know, I could prevent that from happening to you
(By taking all your bourbon off your hands)

I ordered emergency lights, should be here by Friday at the latest. Overnighting the maxsa boards would've cost an extra $50, so going to check the local auto shops first.

Just got back from the grocery store. Strongly considering working from home on Friday depending what the most up-to-date forecast models are showing. Plenty of beer in the fridge and chips and dips in the pantry.

Hoping and hoping the Cliff Mass prediction becomes real:
https://cliffmass.blogspot.com/
I’d like to be able to drive in it a little now that I am over my food poisoning of the weekend, as I missed the first round. As long as the rinks are open, I plan to drive and get in some skating and hockey practice, if closed, I will just go play in the snow.

Hmm, that looks sub-optimal if you lose power. Maybe you can still do the cup noodles if you can heat with gas, but the k-cups will be more challenging.

Do you know which stores might stock the traction boards? I've been checking online and it's always an online item.

Both can be consumed dry if times are desperate enough... assuming the pizza delivery guy refuses to bring hot water with my pizza

All fingers crossed. I want one of either two scenarios: enough snow to make it pretty but not make driving a hazard, or so much snow that everything shuts down for days and people will be talking about it for years.

I’ve never seen them in a store. Might have to bite the bullet and get em online.

I was planning on hooking up a power converter, and building a bracket to hold three hair dryers aimed at my head at all times. Seemed like the best “Miata” solution.

I’ve never bought anything like that. I have seen a place in Bellevue called “Hitch and Truck” or something that might have that kind of stuff.

Snow play with doggo and finding a good hill to go tubing. Maybe head up to airport road and loik for a big empty parking lot. If the roads are shitty sunday, drive my mom to and from work.

That does seem more in keeping with the ethos, especially of your Miata. Alternatively, aren’t you guys all supposed to have racing helmets for track days? Maybe you just need one with a visor?

What size do you need , i have a set of halfway decent no name a/ t’s in 245/ 75r16. I swapped out the rims and had to unmount them to swap over the tpms. They have about 75% tread left on them. I will sell them to ye cheap. The steelies they were on arent for sale.

Just an fyi, most services do not consider zip ties a viable traction solution. Temporary, maybe, for a short distance. But not for freeway speeds.

I was so sick on Monday I could barely walk. I am hoping to get to at least walk in the snow next time.
It only takes a few inches to turn things into a real gongshow here, I am hoping for quite a bit more than that.

You mean, enough snow to make even the typically overconfident Bellevueites think twice?
Forecast is rain at first before turning to snow Friday afternoon. It's Saturday that's going to be nasty.

Here’s hoping Saturday is one for the record books.

Haven’t had need for chains yet, and I’ve been cruising back and forth between mukilteo/ everett and bellevue all week.
I suppose i should get some real chains for the passes or if i need to make my way midwest on short notice. I’ve never had too much trouble driving in the snow around here. I don’t see myself needing much more than temporary traction enhancement.
other than when i was rolling a clapped out 94 regal with a donut on the front that had been there for two months, and was original to the vehicle, in the late 2000's.

A pickup was in the ditch on Monday on Lowell Snohomish River Road. They were trying to fish it out with chains.

Was that a dig? Just kidding. T he drivers here are squirrely unpredictable goobers when it’s dry out, moisture in frozen form unlocks their latent abilities to make even more terrible choices. I will admit to going faster than I need to, but not unsafe speeds. Stay warm and safe.
